I grew up in a small town outside Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am husband to Rev. Michelle Vecchio-Lyzenga, and father to our two boys, Samuel Amos and Jonah Anthony. I received my bachelors studying Film and Media Production from Calvin College, and went on to receive my Masters of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary.

I have worked as a filmmaker, a songwriter, a musician, a worship director, and in April of 2023, I was ordained and installed in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as pastor of New Bridges Presbyterian Church.

I am passionate about cultivating spaces where all feel welcome while addressing issues of inequity and injustice in regards to race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. I am also passionate about fostering worship that shape us into loving, kingdom-oriented, Christ-like people.

I love drinking coffee, cooking for my friends and family, playing guitar and piano, biking, skateboarding, and playing video games.

My favorite books include the "Harry Potter" series, "All the Light You Cannot See," and many theological and biblical commentaries addressing current social issues.

My favorite movies and shows include "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "Star Wars," and "Avatar, the Last Airbender."
